Lack of Improvement on Roster
During the 2019 off-season, the Green Bay Packers had one of the best off-seasons of any team, but in 2020 the case is not the same for Green Bay.
Heading into the 2020 free agency period, the Packers were not expected to make many big moves due to the big signings they made in the 2019 off-season and the upcoming extensions they needed to work on, but the fact that they did not make any key signing hurt them, along with the fact they lost their starting tackle Bryan Bulaga. The only somewhat notable signings Green Bay made were Christian Kirksey to replace Blake Martinez and Rick Wagner to replace Bryan Bulaga.
Heading in to the 2020 draft the Packers had a major weakness at wide receiver, and luckily for Green Bay, this was one of the best receiver classes in a long time, but unfortunately for Packer fans, the team did not take a single receiver.
Instead of taking a receiver at all, the Packers instead went in a completely different direction. In the 1st round, Green Bay selected QB Jordan Love who many viewed as a bit of a reach. In the 2nd and 3rd round, they would add running back A.J Dillon and H-Back/Tight End Josiah Deguara. To round out the draft, the Packers would add a handful of offensive linemen, and a couple of defensive players.
The positive thing about this off-season for the Packers is that they did not get worse, but just because they did not get worse, doesn’t mean they are going to be able to rattle off another 13 wins. Green Bay is set to face a tough schedule in terms of QB play, and with no major additions to this defense, this Packers defense is going to have to rely upon improvement from their younger players
