Play Under Pressure
Statistically, QBs play under pressure usually is not very stable year to year, but that does not mean players can be good under pressure. Many quality QBs like Patrick Mahomes and Rusell Wilson are great under pressure because of their ability to contort their bodies in different directions, while players like Drew Brees are great under pressure because of their quick release and accuracy, but neither of these can be said for Jordan Love.
When current Packers QB Aaron Rodgers faces pressure that forces him out of the pocket, he can make incredible plays outside the pocket with his great arm strength and touch, the same can not be said for Love. Love has great arm strength and has shown good touch with the ball, but he is far from the level of prime Rodgers because of his occasional out of control footwork and accuracy
Love tends to rely on his arm, instead of bringing his hips along with him throughout the throwing motion, but when he faces pressure, it’s even more noticeable. When Love has faced pressure in college he has gotten away with some throws because of the defensive talent he is facing, but in the NFL, he will get punished greatly for mistakes like this.
The good thing for Love is that he was drafted by the Packers, and will get to sit behind one of the greatest QB’s to ever play the game, who also plays a similar style of football compared to Love. Rodgers in his prime has made throws that many simply could not make do to the multitude of different arm angles that he used, his athleticism, and his incredible accuracy. Love will have a great player to model his game after, but it will ultimately be up to him to become the player he can be
