Davante Adams will finally break 1,000 yards on the season
To this point in his young career, this benchmark has been elusive. However, there have been multiple factors or even reasons as to why he hasn’t been able to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark.
In the first couple seasons of Adams career, he struggled, as I discussed earlier. In 2016, when Adams really took a step into the echelon of elite receiver discussion, he was still sharing targets with Jordy Nelson as the team’s primary receiver. Hopes were high that Adams would really take a step forward in 2017. Statistically, he did not. However, the 25-year-old was able to maintain a high level of performance even with Aaron Rodgers out for 10 weeks of the season. Not to mention, Adams suffered two separate concussions in 2017. It was astounding that he played as many games as he did.
2018 can be different. 2018 can finally be the year that Adams can begin to hurdle over the statistical benchmarks that have eluded him. Rodgers is expected to be back at full strength. Adams will be the primary receiver. He fell just three yards short of the mark back in 2016, which was with a full season of Rodgers, but as a secondary option to Nelson.
