Packers considered betting odds favorite to sign Antonio Brown for 2020 season

The Green Bay Packers entered the 2020 NFL offseason with a need to add more talent at the wide receiver position. They failed to get Aaron Rodgers help in this regard but with Antonio Brown and Josh Gordon still available, could they look to sign one of them?

According to BetOnline, the Packers (+200) currently are listed as the favorite to sign Brown. The Seattle Seahawks have widely been considered a likely option due to Russell Wilson’s recruiting efforts, but they don’t have nearly as pressing of a need as Green Bay at wide receiver.

Earlier in the offseason, the lone move the Packers made at this position was the signing of Devin Funchess. He has underwhelmed throughout his NFL career and is coming off a season-ending injury. However, his return won’t come until 2021 as he opted out of playing this season.

Now, the Packers are right back where they started in regards to the wide receiver position. The 2020 NFL Draft featured what many considered to be a ‘historic’ group of prospects at this position and Green Bay elected not to take part in that. There is still time to make a splash, though.

While it remains to be seen if Brown can stay out of off-field trouble, the possibility of pairing him with Davante Adams is highly intriguing. The Packers would have a dynamic duo that can create separation and make big plays without relying on the offensive system.

The last full season Antonio Brown played in the NFL came in 2018 as a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He racked up 104 receptions, 1,297 yards, and 15 touchdowns in 15 performances.
