Packers projected to take Florida TE Kyle Pitts in early mock draft

The Green Bay Packers have some questions moving forward at the tight end position. While it may be too early to look ahead to the 2021 NFL Draft, that has not stopped the experts and draft analysts from doing so. Right now, the Packers are being connected to Florida Gators tight end Kyle Pitts.

Standing in at 6-foot-6 and 240 pounds, Pitts is going to be one of the most intriguing tight ends available in 2021.

Walter Football currently has the Packers projected to take Pitts with the No. 22 overall pick in their early 2021 mock draft. Here is the reasoning for the connection between Green Bay and Pitts.

Pitts turned into play-maker in 2019, creating mismatches in the passing game. He is too fast for linebackers while being too big for safeties in coverage. The 6-foot-6, 239-pounder could stand to improve his blocking, but he will get drafted for his receiving ability. In 2019, he had 54 receptions for 649 yards and five touchdowns. Pitts could be improved in 2020 due his increased experience, developing more physically, and benefitting from more experienced quarterback play.

Aaron Rodgers has always loved utilizing tight ends. The Packers are hoping that Jace Sternberger can step up and be the long-term starter for them, but that is not a guarantee. Pitts could be an intriguing option if Sternberger doesn’t show up in 2020.

During the 2019 season with the Gators, Pitts ended up catching 54 passes for 649 yards and five touchdowns. The Packers would certainly be intrigued by a talented pass-catcher with the size that Pitts has.

It will be interesting to see what the Packers end up doing, but this is a name to keep an eye on. Green Bay will likely look to address their offense a bit next offseason. Jordan Love is the future under center and they will want to add more young talent.

Matt LaFleur would be an excellent head coach for Pitts and his system would fit beautifully. Having a quarterback like Rodgers to play with for the first couple years of his career would be big as well.

Expect to hear quite a few more names connected to the Packers as more mock drafts are released. But, Kyle Pitts is definitely a name that could make sense next offseason.
