Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is looking for a new contract. He hasn’t gotten one yet.

However, that has not stopped the budding star from joining the Packers at organized team activities.

“I mean, that’s just something that I’ve always done — trying to be here, get the reps in, get the work in with the guys, and just start building that chemistry and getting ready for the season,” Love said, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN.

Love is under contract through 2027 and is slated to earn $11 million next season. The Packers extended him on a very cheap deal last offseason instead of exercising his fifth-year option.

The 25-year-old obviously knows he is underpaid, but he isn’t making too big of a deal out of it. Still, if Green Bay is unable to reach a long-term agreement with Love as the offseason progresses, it may end up changing Love’s strategy as far as how much work he actually does with the club in the coming months.

“We’ll see,” Love said. “I don’t know yet. We’ll see.”

Love is coming off of a fantastic 2023 campaign in which he threw for 4,159 yards, 32 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 64.2 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 96.1.

Much of that work came during the second half of the season, as Love totaled 18 touchdowns and just one pick over the last eight games. The Packers went 6-2 during that span and were able to sneak into the playoffs as a result.

Green Bay then went on to upset the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round, with Love throwing three touchdowns and no interceptions in the victory.

Love, who played his collegiate football at Utah State, was selected by the Packers with the 26th overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He spent the first three years of his career as Aaron Rodgers’ backup, but the door was opened for him to start when Green Bay traded Rodgers last offseason.

Now, it’s pretty clear that Love is the Packers’ franchise quarterback moving forward, and he has an impressive stable of young and talented receivers at his disposal to boot.

It’s on Green Bay to ensure that it locks up Love for the foreseeable future.

The Packers are considered dark horse Super Bowl contenders by some heading into 2024, and the locker room will almost certainly be much looser with Jordan Love under a newer, more lucrative contract.
