Green Bay Packers: Studs and Duds from the First Preseason Game

Packers Wire – USA Today

Stud: EDGE Reggie Gilbert

Gilbert plays a position where the Packers desperately need somebody to step up. He has spent two years on the practice squad and seems to flash every time he steps on the field. Well, for the Arizona product, this year might be his chance to shine.

Gilbert once again made nice plays when given an opportunity to do so. On Thursday against the Titans, he excelled at setting the edge in run defense. He displayed the ability to rush the passer, but those opportunities were few and far between due to the quick passing game from Tennessee.

Arguably, Gilbert is this team’s third-best EDGE defender and they need to him to take a big step forward this year. All signs show continued improvement and you just hope it can continue through the remainder of the preseason.
