Green Bay Packers: Studs and Duds from the First Preseason Game

Packers Wire – USA Today

Dud: DB Josh Jones

New defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is going to be asking a lot of Josh Jones in his sophomore campaign. That campaign did not get off to a good start on Thursday.

One of the players that I was personally most excited to see play, Jones left the game early with an apparent injury. At this point, everyone is still awaiting more information regarding the departure. But, for a guy who is competing for significant playing time, every rep counts.

Green Bay will need Jones to be healthy and become an impact player this year. The expectations are high, but so is the praise from coaches. Packers fans are expecting a new defense, both in scheme and in attitude. Jones is expected to be one of those spear-heading that movement. If he’s not on the field, then he can’t do so.
