Green Bay Packers: Studs and Duds from the First Preseason Game

Dud: WR Trevor Davis

For those who watched the game, you might be confused. You might be saying to yourself “But, Davis didn’t even play.” And you’re right, he did not play. This is precisely why he has made my list of “duds.”

There was not really a bad performance from any of the veterans or from any of the rookies. In fact, they all played really well. The receiver group was one of the highlights of the entire night. And Davis wasn’t a part of it.

Davis is currently in the midst of an incredibly competitive battle for a roster spot. There are six receivers (if you include the rookies) competing for four wide receiver spots. If you count the rookies as locks, then there are three receivers competing for one roster spot. Luckily for Davis, nobody really made an impact in the return game. There might be still a light at the end of the tunnel for Davis, but if he has a desire to be on this roster when September 1st arrives then he needs to get back onto the field and fast.
