Green Bay Packers: Studs and Duds from the First Preseason Game

Packers Wire – USA Today

Stud: LB Oren Burks

The linebacker position has long been one of question in Green Bay. For the first time in a long time, there was some hope for the position. Returning starting linebackers Blake Martinez and Jake Ryan were looking to help anchor a young Packers defense. But, then Ryan tore his ACL in the early stages of training camp, thus leaving a void at the linebacker position.

Third round pick Oren Burks was already in line to receive significant snaps this year as a cover linebacker. But, now he will likely be asked to do a lot more.

Burks was known for his ability to be effective in pass coverage and cover from sideline to sideline during his time at Vanderbilt and he did just that against the Titans. There will be a lot expected out of the rookie linebacker in 2018 and he’s off to a good start.
