The Green Bay Packers still may be looking to add talent to their roster as the anticipated start of training camp nears. Based on recent reports, one player that could be a possibility is free agent pass-rusher Everson Griffen.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers and Griffen share a mutual interest in a possible contract. There weren’t details provided about the potential length or compensation that could be required for either side to reach an agreement.
Perhaps one of the greater indirect benefits of an Griffen signing for the Packers would be that it eliminates the possibility of him returning to the Minnesota Vikings. For a cap-strapped organization, there isn’t much for backup plans.
Last season, Everson Griffen appeared in 15 games and recorded 41 combined tackles (11 for loss), 8.0 sacks, 24 QB hits, one interception, and two pass breakups. He would be a helpful addition for a Packers team looking to make the most of Aaron Rodgers’ window.
With that being said, let’s take a look at three reasons signing Everson Griffen should be a priority for the Packers.
