No. 1: Cam Newton will be dominant and efficient
Following his 2015 MVP season, quarterback Cam Newton has never quite gotten back to that level of play. Newton has had single games where he looked like an MVP, but no week to week consistency of MVP play.
Since 2015, Newton has not accounted for over 30 touchdowns and his interceptions have increased in each of the last two seasons.
Insert new offensive coordinator Norv Turner.
Carolina brought in Turner with the idea of making Newton a more efficient and consistent quarterback. The effects of Turner will be shown from the very first game of the season. Newton will have a highlight-filled game against the Cowboys this weekend.
Anticipate Newton to score either three or four touchdowns on Sunday. At least one of those touchdowns will be a rushing touchdown. Along with multiple touchdowns, Newton will be efficient due to Turner’s play calling.
Newton will register one of the highest quarterback ratings and QBR among all the quarterbacks who play in Week 1. In addition, it helps Newton and this Panthers offense is playing against the Cowboys secondary. Dallas has young, inexperienced players starting at all positions in the defensive backfield. Even the Cowboys front office knows it needs help in the secondary. That’s why they’ve been trying to trade for Seattle Seahawks safety Earl Thomas.
Newton will start a very successful 2018 campaign, and his performance will be one of the best of Week 1 and a possible prelude of things to come for Carolina’s franchise quarterback.
