Teddy Bridgewater’s success
The last time Teddy Bridgewater was a starter for the entirety of a season was in 2015. A season which led the Minnesota Vikings to an 11-5 record, and a playoff appearance.
To recover from injuries, Bridgewater accepted the role as a backup in New Orleans for a couple seasons. He receieved the opportunity last year for a five game stretch to shine, as Drew Brees sat out, and he did just that.
A 5-0 record, nine touchdowns, 1384 passing yards, and only two interceptions. Even though Teddy may not replicate that over the course of an entire season, anything is an upgrade over Kyle Allen.
Allen last season threw for 17 touchdowns in 12 starts, yet totalled up 29 turnovers between interceptions and fumbles. Carolina lost the ball a lot offensively last season, and rarely capitalized upon any sort of field position they were given.
The Carolina faithful isn’t necessarily happy with the big contract Teddy was given.
There are two potential outcomes to this. The first one is that Bridgewater shocks the world, and leads the Panthers to a successful season offensively. The second is he struggles to win games, and the Panthers receive a top-end first round pick, where they can select one of the three extremely attractive college quarterbacks.
Bridgewater will get his opportunity to win Carolina over, in a likely empty stadium. Yet, if he can win games, the stadium could be filling up next year, full of Bridgewater jerseys.
