Execution Of The Receiving Corps
Cam Newton may be looked down upon by the rest of the league as a quarterback who struggles to throw the ball. He doesn’t have the best mechanics, and does struggle slightly with accuracy, yet, he really wasn’t put in much of a position to succeed.
On top of being placed behind a horrendous offensive line, Newton was rarely ever given good receivers to play with.
He has Steve Smith Sr. for the beginning years, Greg Olsen, who was riddled with injuries, and a couple years of a young Christian McCaffrey. He made the Super Bowl with Ted Ginn Jr. as his best receiver. No disrespect to Ginn, he just shouldn’t be the number one receiver on a championship level team.
It seemed that all it took was Newton leaving for Carolina to fill out their receiving core. D.J. Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Robby Anderson fill out one of the most athletic, and fast receiving cores in the league.
They still aren’t as recognized as the core in Atlanta, or Arizona, but this team has playmakers. All of them are young and fast, and will also have a running back in Christian McCaffrey to play off of.
Anderson is more than capable of taking the top off, while Moore, McCaffrey, and Samuel are fantastic at making plays after the catch.
Even if they aren’t the most successful, this offense should be exciting and fun to watch. Coach Joe Brady has a lot of athletes to work with. The two question will be if he can do it, and if the offensive line can hold up long enough to allow the playmakers to make plays.
