The New England Patriots are all in for this season. While New England is usually at the top of the AFC, this year things may look a little different. The Patriots offense is transitioning away from the Brady era. Recently Cam Newton signed a very team friendly deal.

Newton is a former MVP, however in the last few years he has regressed. While Newton is finally healthy, there are questions whether he will return to his MVP form.

The Patriots have a few questionable starters on offense. The wide receivers struggled last year. However, there is a lot of potential. There is a logjam at running back. This season it will be interesting how they handle their running back situation. It does help they at least have a more than respectable offensive line.

On the defensive side, New England has some young stars with potential. Last year the Patriots defense was fantastic. However, there were a few key players that left in the offseason. It will be interesting to see how New England replaces those players. The defense will be key for New England’s success this season.

Obviously, having Bill Belichick gives New England an advantage. However things seem a bit different for the Patriots in the offseason. While Newton is very talented, he is very different from Brady.

With taking all of that into consideration, here are three boom-or-bust candidates for the Patriots going into the 2020 NFL season.
