The Denver Broncos have a No. 1 tight end in Noah Fant and used the 2020 NFL Draft to select Albert Okwuegbunam, meaning they created an overabundance of talent at this position. As a result, Jeff Heuerman was released after failing to find a trade suitor.

Drafted in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Heuerman never quite managed to become much of a staple in the Broncos’ offense. He has appeared in 51 career regular-season games and has recorded 106 targets, 63 receptions, 678 yards, and five touchdowns.

The benefit the New England Patriots would face from signing Heuerman is that he has four years of NFL experience. They could provide him with a larger role than he has received throughout his career and see if that’s all he needed to reach his potential.
