The New England Patriots are coming into this year as one of the most intriguing teams in the NFL. While that isn’t an uncommon thing, this year it is for a different reason. Usually all eyes in New England were on the Patriots to see if Tom Brady would win yet another Super Bowl.
This season, New England is under the spotlight because of a different former MVP, Cam Newton. While the signing of the former Carolina Panthers superstar was fairly recent, it seems like a perfect fit.
The question of the offseason was whether or not the Patriots wanted to continue contending for Super Bowls. For awhile it looked as though they wanted to see what they had in the young QB Jarrett Stidham. The question now is this Cams job right away, or will he have to fight for the starting role?
The quarterback position is the one under the spotlight. However, QB isn’t the only position of intrigue on this offense. From skill position to offensive line there are plenty of starting positions that aren’t necessarily secure. The Patriots offense is getting older. Bill Belichick is more than likely rolling out a new system this year that better fits his personnel. What will that mean for some veteran players who flourished in the Brady-era?
One thing is for certain about New England. They will not roll over and die. Fully expect the Patriots to be contenders this year, and Belichick to once again show off his genius.
With taking all of that into consideration, let’s take a look at what the projected starters for the New England Patriots’ offense appear to be prior to training camp.
