Foles Must Regain His Swag
If Nick Foles was Sam Darnold then it would be easy to blame nerves on his performance against the Falcons. However, Foles is not a rookie nor is he new to adversity and high-profile games. The Eagles are looking for that Super Bowl MVP QB to emerge. The same QB, who for a split second this offseason had loyal Eagles’ fans wondering if he was the better choice over Carson Wentz to lead this team into the future. Playoff Foles needs to return to September and he needs to do it now.
Against the Falcons, Foles completed just 19 of 34 passes for 117 yards, zero touchdowns, and one interception. This has to change. If the Eagles get into a shootout with the Bucs, the fear is that Foles will not be able to match Fitzpatrick throw for throw. What makes the Eagles so dangerous is their ability to spread the ball around the field. With Jeffery out, that means that Mike Wallace and Sproles will have to play a larger role.
Against the Falcons, not one receiver gained more than 50 yards and that’s with Ertz and Agholor each getting 10 targets from Foles. Something has to give or this could be a blowout.
