Jalen Hurts keeps ascending on the list of Philadelphia Eagles legends.
During the Eagles’ pivotal win over the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday, Hurts scored the 33rd rushing touchdown of his career, moving him past Randall Cunningham for No. 1 on Philadelphia’s all-time list.
It should also be noted that it took Cunningham 11 years to rack up 32 rushing scores. It has only taken Hurts three-and-a-half years to reach 33.
Hurts went 17-for-23 with 207 yards and a couple of passing touchdowns in the victory over the Cowboys.
On the season overall, Hurts has thrown for 2,347 yards, 15 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 68.9 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 97. He has also rushed for 316 yards and seven scores.
The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at both the University of Alabama and the University of Oklahoma, was selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
Hurts became Philadelphia’s full-time starter under center in 2021, totaling 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine picks while completing 61.3 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 87.2. In addition, he registered 784 yards and 10 scores as a rusher, averaging a robust 5.6 yards per carry.
Then, last season, Hurts broke out, finishing with 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 66.5 percent of his passes and recording a passer rating of 101.5. On top of that, he ran for 760 yards and 13 scores. As a result of his efforts, Hurts made the Pro Bowl and finished second in MVP voting. Most importantly, he led Philly all the way to the Super Bowl, where the Birds ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Jalen Hurts seems well on his way to having another Pro Bowl-caliber campaign just like the Eagles remain one of the best teams in the NFL.
Philadelphia owns the league’s best record at 8-1. It will have a Week 10 bye before heading on the road for a Super Bowl rematch with the Chiefs on Nov. 20.
