Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts suffered a gruesome-looking finger injury during his team’s loss to the New York Giants in their season finale on Sunday, but the Eagles have received some good news on that front.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL media, X-rays have shown that there is no fracture on the right middle finger that Hurts injured in the 27-10 defeat.

Hurts, who said his finger “popped out” during the first half, said that he is taking things day-by-day. Fortunately for Hurts, he’ll get an extra day of rest, as Philadelphia won’t play its Wild Card Round playoff game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers until next Monday.

The 25-year-old went 7-for-16 with 55 yards and an interception against the Giants. He did not come out for the second half, as the Eagles were already trailing 24-0.

On the season overall, Hurts threw for 3,858 yards, 23 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while completing 65.4 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 89.1. In addition, he rushed for 605 yards and 15 scores while averaging 3.9 yards per carry.

Hurts, who played his collegiate football at both the University of Alabama and the University of Oklahoma, was selected by Philadelphia in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He became Philly’s full-time starter under center in 2021, totaling 3,144 yards, 16 touchdowns and nine picks. Then, the following year, Hurts made the Pro Bowl after finishing with 3,701 yards, 22 touchdowns and six picks, completing 66.5 percent of his throws and registering a passer rating of 101.5. He finished second in MVP voting and, most importantly, led the Eagles to a Super Bowl appearance.

Philadelphia was 10-1 at one point this year, but it ended its regular season by losing five of its last six games to drop to 11-6 and fall out of first place in the NFC East.

Now, Jalen Hurts and Co. will have to try and defend their conference title on the road.
