Eagles Urged To Trade For Seahawks’ Offensive Playmaker

Could the Philadelphia Eagles turn to the Seattle Seahawks for some offensive assistance this offseason?

Eagles running back D’Andre Swift is getting set to hit free agency, and if history is any indication, Philadelphia will not be re-signing him.

Philly typically does not give big money to halfbacks, which is why it allowed Miles Sanders to walk last spring.

But, that means the Eagles will need to replace Swift, as it seems doubtful that they will rely on Kenneth Gainwell as their No. 1 back in 2024.

Liam Jenkins of Philly Sports Network sees a potential solution: Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III.

Jenkins suggests that Philadelphia trades a second-round draft pick, a compensatory fifth-rounder and tight end Jack Driscoll to Seattle in exchange for Walker.

Why would the Seahawks do this?

Well, Seattle also has 22-year-old Zach Charbonnet in its backfield, and Charbonnet showed some impressive flashes during his rookie campaign this past season.

The Seahawks could elevate Charbonnet to the featured role and then use the second-round pick it would acquire from the Eagles to fill out another area of need on the roster (or potentially take a quarterback who will eventually supplant Geno Smith).

Walker who played his collegiate football at Wake Forest and Michigan State, was selected by Seattle in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft.

He played in 15 games during his rookie campaign, racking up 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 4.6 yards per carry. Then, last year, Walker took a bit of a step back, finishing with 905 yards and eight scores while logging 4.1 yards per attempt.

We’ll see what the Eagles decide to do at running back in the coming weeks.
