Pittsburgh Steelers: 3 Best Performances from Week 3 vs. Buccaneers

Entering Week 3 of the 2018 NFL season, the Pittsburgh Steelers were in desperate need of a win. Well, the Steelers got that win, handing the Tampa Bay Buccaneers their first loss in the process.

It wasn’t a pretty game to watch, as the teams combined for 24 penalties, including 13 on the Steelers. And despite building a 20-point halftime lead, Pittsburgh had to hang on in the closing minutes for a 30-27 victory that moved its record to 1-1-1 on the season.

But a win is a win, and the Steelers’ win keeps them in the thick of things in the AFC North. The Cleveland Browns are also 1-1-1, while the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens currently sport identical 2-1 marks.

Pittsburgh jumped out to a big lead over the previously unbeaten Buccaneers in the second quarter of Monday night’s game. The Steelers outscored Tampa Bay 24-3 in the quarter to build a commanding 30-10 halftime advantage.

But it was all Buccaneers in the second half, as they held Pittsburgh scoreless and nearly completed a huge comeback. In the end, the Steelers were barely able to escape Tampa Bay with a victory that they hope turns their season around.

Veteran quarterback Ben Roethlisberger played a major role in the Steelers’ win, turning in his second straight strong performance after a disappointing outing in Week 1. But others also stepped up for the Steelers, who seemed to be on life support prior to Monday night.

Here’s a look at the three best performances from the Steelers’ Week 3 victory over the Buccaneers.
