Pittsburgh Steelers: 3 Keys to Victory in Week 2 vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Ben Roethlisberger can’t have a flurry of turnovers

“Wow! Again!” is probably what a lot of Pittsburgh Steelers fans were saying last week with the plethora of turnovers by their team. Or should I say Ben Roethlisberger, since he was responsible for five out of the six turnovers. If I told you beforehand that the Steelers would have six turnovers in Week 1 you’d probably guarantee a loss. Thankfully for the Steelers, they were playing against the Browns. Any other team would have sealed the game, like the Kansas City Chiefs.

I understand the weather conditions weren’t ideal, but for crying out loud five turnovers for one player? It’s simply inexcusable for a player of Big Ben’s caliber. It’s starting to feel like he’s good for a couple of turnovers a game now. The Chiefs defense is going to be preying on those bad decisions and inaccurate passes from him. Anything similar to his performance against the Browns last week will practically be handing the Chiefs the win. It won’t even matter what the Steelers defense does to Patrick Mahomes or Tyreek Hill if that occurs.

With all that said, there is some good news for Big Ben. The Chiefs secondary is fairly weak. Chargers quarterback Phillip Rivers was easily slicing and dicing them last week. The blueprint to beating them was shown in Rivers’ performance. So long as Roethlisberger isn’t careless with the football they should have no issue with driving the field.

There isn’t really anyone in the Chiefs’ secondary that can bother the likes of Antonio Brown or JuJu Smith-Schuster. Throwing an interception will say more about Big Ben than it does about the Chiefs. He can’t afford to be the drive killer. Protect the football and keep the Chiefs offense on the sidelines.
