2. 2,981 passing yards on offense
Just a season ago, Roethlisberger threw for a career-high 5,129 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions. In addition, the Steelers ended the 2018 season with the second-best passing offense in the NFL.
But with Roethlisberger sustaining a season-ending elbow injury, Pittsburgh failed to properly replace him. After Roethlisberger was sidelined, both Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges started under center for the Steelers.
Neither Rudolph or Hodges were able to consistently have success through the air. Following a season where they nearly led the league in passing yards, Pittsburgh was nearly the worst passing team in 2019.
If it weren’t for the Washington Redskins, the Steelers would’ve had the worst passing offense in the NFL with only 2,981 passing yards. It’s safe to say that it will be tough to replicate that next season
