Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt needs two sacks during Thursday night’s matchup with the Tennessee Titans to pass his older brother, J.J. Watt, for the second-most sacks by a player in their first 100 career games, per Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

T.J. currently has 86 sacks over that span. Only JJ (87.5) and legendary defensive lineman Reggie White (105) have more over their first 100 contests.

During this season in particular, the younger Watt has registered 18 tackles, 8.5 sacks, an interception, a couple of forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, six passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

So, yes; Watt has been pretty busy and certainly seems to be in the running to win the second Defensive Player of the Year award of his NFL tenure.

The 29-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Wisconsin, was selected by the Steelers with the 30th overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He had an impressive rookie campaign, recording 54 tackles, seven sacks and an interception. The following year, Watt broke out, finishing with 68 tackles, 13 sacks and six forced fumbles en route to his first of five straight Pro Bowl appearances.

T.J. Watt then proceeded to notch First-Team All-Pro selections in three straight years between 2019 and 2021, and in the last season of that run, he tied Michael Strahan’s single-season sack record at 22.5.

The Pewaukee, Wi. native was limited to just 10 games last year due to a torn pectoral muscle and a knee injury that required microscopic surgery. He still managed to log 39 tackles, 5.5 sacks, a pair of interceptions and a forced fumble when he was on the field.

Pittsburgh is 4-3 on the year and is aiming to bounce back from an ugly Week 8 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars when it battles the Titans on Thursday evening.
