The Kansas City Chiefs already possessed the NFL’s most prolific offense and it showed during their recent Super Bowl victory. They added reason for intrigue by selecting former LSU standout Clyde Edwards-Helaire with the No. 32 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
It was nothing short of spectacular seeing the success LSU achieved in 2019 en route to winning the College Football Playoff National Championship. They were truly prolific with Joe Burrow leading the way at quarterback. However, Edwards-Helaire chipped in 1,867 total yards from scrimmage and 17 combined touchdowns, too.
Standing at 5-7, many expressed concerns about the lack of size and breakaway speed Edwards-Helaire provides for the running back position. His great understanding of the game overcome should enable him to overcome such deficiencies and allows him to thrive in a variety of different blocking schemes.
Heading to the Chiefs, Edwards-Helaire already is well acclimated when it comes to fitting in with a prolific offense. He should provide a reliable backfield presence both in the ground game and as a receiver out in space for Patrick Mahomes to capitalize on as a relief option.
With that being said, let’s take a look at what to expect from Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire in 2020.
