What To Expect From Daniel Jones In 2020
First things first, the expectations need to be tempered for Jones this season. He isn’t going to become a superstar with just one offseason of work. There is still plenty of work for him to do moving forward.
Last season, Jones showed off a very good NFL arm. He has good accuracy, good arm strength, and great football IQ. No one can teach IQ, which bodes well for his future.
Jones will need to focus on cutting down the turnover issues that he had as a rookie. He threw 12 interceptions, but the fumbling was the main issue. To be exact, Jones fumbled the football 12 times on the season.
Predicting the season for a second-year quarterback is never an easy task. Some young quarterbacks take a big leap in the second year and others actually appear to take a step back. Thankfully, the Giants have themselves a good one and will see their quarterback improve.
When everything is said and done, Jones will end up amassing 3,800 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. It isn’t a massive jump, but it is a jump nonetheless.
ESPN released their projections for Jones. They have him throwing for 3,719 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions. Not far off from our predictions, but not quite as glamorous either.
New York isn’t an easy place for young quarterbacks. The Giants know how much pressure being a quarterback in the Big Apple can bring. Jones, however, loves pressure and it seems to bring the best out of him.
Expect to see Daniel Jones look much better than he did last season. He will improve the turnover numbers and the Giants are going to be a much tougher team to beat because of it.
