With the 2020 NFL season right around the corner, the Detroit Lions are a rather unknown quantity. Matthew Stafford is set to get back on the field after missing a big chunk of last season and the Lions made a few very nice additions.
One of those nice additions was the selection of Georgia running back D’Andre Swift in the 2020 NFL Draft. Swift has the potential to come in and earn an immediate starting job. He could take a ton of pressure off of the Lions’ passing attack.
During the 2019 season, Stafford only ended up playing in eight games. He completed 64.3 percent of his pass attempts for 2,499 yards, 19 touchdowns, and just five interceptions. Those numbers show just how underrated Stafford has been.
At 32 years old, Stafford will be out to prove a point this season. Rumors circled him all offseason long about wanting a trade from the Lions. Nothing ended up happening, but Stafford will be looking to showcase his skills in case of a potential trade in the future.
All of that being said, let’s dive in and take a look at what the Lions and fans should be expecting from Matthew Stafford this season.
