What To Expect From Teddy Bridgewater In 2020
Making a decision to move on from a former MVP quarterback is never easy. Cam Newton may not be the player he once was, but a healthy version of him would still be capable of leading a team on a playoff run.
Bridgewater will be facing a ton of pressure in his first season with the Panthers. Most fans were not happy with the way the franchise handled the Newton situation. It will be up to Bridgewater to change that narrative.
Last season, Bridgewater showcased a strong and accurate arm and the mental ability to be a very successful starter. He kept the Saints in contention. While the Panthers may not be ready to be a playoff team in 2020, they are in capable hands at quarterback.
Just a few short years ago, Bridgewater was considered one of the top up-and-coming quarterbacks in the NFL. Unfortunately, he suffered a gruesome leg injury and nearly lost his leg.
Now, he is back as a starter and has earned that role. He has worked hard and has been willing to learn from Drew Brees and his coaches. That bodes well for his future with the Panthers and relationship with Matt Rhule.
What should the Panthers be expecting from their new quarterback? Quite simply, they should be expecting a very good season.
It would be reasonable to expect Bridgewater to rack up around 4,000 passing yards to go along with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. With D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson as his top weapons and Christian McCaffrey’s ability on the ground and through the air, Bridgewater is in a position to be very successful right off the bat.
Expect to see the Panthers end up being very happy with their decision to move on from Newton for Bridgewater. It may take a couple of years to get back into playoff contention, but they are on the right track.
