As the 2020 NFL season continues to draw closer, the New England Patriots have once again become a team to keep an eye on. Even after losing Tom Brady to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers earlier this offseason, Bill Belichick found a way to stay at the top of the media interest.
How did the Patriots do that, you ask? With the signing of former MVP quarterback Cam Newton to a one-year contract. Newton will come in and compete for playing time with young quarterback Jarrett Stidham.
Newton was released by the Carolina Panthers earlier this offseason after the team had talked about running it back for one more year with him. It took some time for him to end up landing with the Patriots, but everyone knew it would end up happening.
During the 2019 season with the Panthers, Newton only played in two games. Back in 2018, however, he played in 14 games, completing 67.9 percent of his pass attempts for 3,395 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 13 interceptions.
All of that being said, what should the Patriots be expecting from Cam Newton this season? Let’s take a look at some reasonable predictions for him.
