2. New York Giants
The New York Giants may surprise a lot of people this season. While there are holes, most notably on the defensive side, they have a lot of talent. The Giants hired Joe Judge as the head coach in the offseason. Judge spent 11 years under two of the games best coaches, Nick Saban and Bill Belichick. Judge will bring a more disciplined style of play that offensively will focus more on the run game.
The focus on the run game should help the Giants defense by managing the clock. New York’s defense has some talent, but overall there are a lot of holes. Perhaps they aren’t done making offseason moves, but the biggest concern in New York is the lack of pass rush.
The Giants have three solid down lineman, but the edge rushers have yet to prove they can make an impact. However, the Giants did sign Blake Martinez in the offseason and drafted safety Xavier McKinney so their is a chance the defense improves on last years performance, although it couldn’t get much worse.
What gives me hope for New York is the Giants offense. The Giants offense is filled with talent, they have the potential to be on of the leagues best. Saquan Barkley is talented enough to carry an offense, however he doesn’t need to.
Fun fact, Daniel Jones didn’t play a single game with Barkley, tight end Evan Engram, or receivers Sterling Shepard, Darrius Slayton, and Golden Tate healthy. The offensive line got a major boost when the Giants drafted Tackle Andrew Thomas out of Georgia with the No. 4 pick. Don’t expect a 49ers type rise to glory, however, they do have playoff potential, nevertheless.
Prediction: 9-7
