Predicting who each NFC East team will take in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft

NFC East, NFL Draft

The 2021 NFL Draft is quickly approaching and teams in the NFC East will be looking to make some major upgrades. The NFC East only had one team represent them in the playoffs last season, and that was The Washington Football Team. The NFC East has three teams picking in the top 15 picks of the first round, and there is sure to be some top notch talent entering the division soon.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at predictions for who each team in the division will end up taking in the first round of the upcoming NFL Draft.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles currently own the number 12 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after trading back a few spots. In the Eagles’ case, they are still able to get their guy even by moving back a few picks and I think they’ll snag him in the first round.

From what I’ve heard, the Eagles are very high on Alabama wide receiver Devonta Smith, and I think they’ll snag him here. In this move, the Eagles will get to reunite Devonta Smith with Jalen Hurts and that could help the Eagles a lot as they look to get back in playoff contention.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys had a down year that was riddled with injuries, but they’ll be looking for a big time bounce back in 2021. I think the Cowboys will hit a home run with their number 10 overall pick with the selection of Alabama cornerback Patrick Surtain II.

Surtain II is the son of a former NFL player, so he likely knows how to handle himself as a professional already and he has chemistry with current Dallas cornerback Trevon Diggs from their time at Alabama together. This would be the best case scenario for the Cowboys.

New York Giants

The Giants pick one spot after their division rivals, the Cowboys, and they could look to cash in at the same position of need. The Giants, in my opinion, should snag the second-best corner on the market in South Carolina’s Jaycee Horn.

Horn is as physical as they come and his stellar Pro Day has allowed him to fly up draft radars. The Giants need some stability in their secondary and bringing in Horn in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft could be the icing on the cake.

Washington Football Team

The Washington Football Team were the lone team that represented the NFC East in the playoffs this past season and they could look to cash in with a solid addition to their roster at pick number 19 overall. I think the Football Team should enhance their offensive line with the addition of USC’s Alijah Vera-Tucker.

Vera-Tucker is a very physical interior or exterior offensive lineman who can thrive in a versatile role at the next level. The Football Team doesn’t need to get cute with this pick. Take Vera-Tucker in the first round of the NFL Draft and move forward with a long-term option on the line.

After the draft is over, keep in mind that if you like sports betting, Iowa BetRivers Sportsbook offers NFL bets of all kinds!
