Oakland threw the ball quite a bit last season, leading to quarterback Derek Carr having a bounce back campaign. He posted career highs in completion percentage, passing yards and QBR.
Adding weapons for Carr to play with should be a top priority for Gruden this offseason. They already have a young, promising tight end in Darren Waller, as he caught 90 balls for over 1,000 yards in 2019. Slot receiver Hunter Renfrow also had a nice season, hauling in 49 balls for 605 yards and four touchdowns.
What this team is missing is a bonified veteran receiver who can play on the outside. That’s where Emmanuel Sanders comes in.
At 32-years-old, Sanders may not be the explosive weapon he used to be with the Denver Broncos, but he’s still a reliable target who can make plays for his ball club.
Last season, Sanders graded out as the 22nd-best right side wide receiver in football according to Pro Football Focus, as he totaled 66 catches for 869 yards and five touchdowns.
The Raiders could really use a veteran presence in their wide receiver group, and Sanders could end up being the perfect guy for the job.
