The Las Vegas Raiders have been making a lot of headlines recently but for none of the right reasons. Off the field, the situation with star pass rusher Chandler Jones is a bizarre one that the team hasn’t made many comments on. On the field, things have been just as disastrous.
Head coach Josh McDaniels was heavily criticized for his decision to kick a field goal late in the fourth quarter down eight instead of going for a touchdown. He deserved the ridicule as a penalty by the Pittsburgh Steelers ended up aiding them as Las Vegas essentially ran the clock out on themselves.
The shortcomings are something that has frustrated star wide receiver Davante Adams. He did not mince his words when expressing those frustrations after the game, saying he doesn’t have time to wait around.
That was a clear message to the organization that they need to figure things out, and soon, or changes will have to be made. That has led to a ton of trade speculation surrounding Adams, who could be angling for a trade.
Having two stars unhappy with the organization is bad enough, but the Raiders may have a third. Maxx Crosby echoed the sentiments of Adams and is backing everything he has said about the team.
“Davante is 100 percent right and he has a right to be frustrated because that dude shows up every day and he gets better,” Crosby said of his teammate. “Me and him are tight as ever because that’s how we are since day one. That’s why he’s elite and he has a right to feel that way, and I feel the exact same way. We’ve got to stop beating ourselves. It’s something we’ve got to look at and find out how we can avoid doing that.”
The Raiders are currently 1-2 with their only victory coming over the 0-3 Denver Broncos. Things certainly aren’t going according to plan and their star players being displeased isn’t going to help the cause.
Las Vegas has to figure out a way to get things on track or some major changes could be coming on the horizon. Their schedule lightens up in the coming weeks as five of their next seven opponents currently have a record under .500.
If they are going to turn things around, the time to do so is now. Otherwise, an Adams trade could become inevitable for the Raiders in what has been a failing regime under Dave Ziegler and McDaniels.
