Josh Jacobs showed the Las Vegas Raiders that he had legitimate star potential during his rookie season in 2019. He was a beast from his first NFL carry and many were expecting a big leap from him in 2020.
So far this season, Jacobs has not disappointed.
Through two games in 2020, Jacobs has carried the football 52 times for 181 yards and three touchdowns. He has also caught seven passes for 63 yards. Jacobs is well on his way to being a legitimate elite NFL running back.
Pro Football Focus shared an intriguing statistic about Jacobs through the first two weeks of the season. Jacobs is leading the NFL in missed tackles forced on run plays.
Jacobs and the Raiders have gotten off to a hot start this season. After coming through with an impressive win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 2, they are 2-0. Las Vegas is gunning for a playoff berth and have gotten off to a great start towards that goal.
At just 22 years old, the best is yet to come for Jacobs with the Raiders. He has balanced the offense perfectly for quarterback Derek Carr.
If the Raiders are going to make the playoffs this season, they will need Jacobs to continue the impressive play he has shown in the first two weeks. He is a true dual-threat running back and has great speed, strength, and elusiveness.
As you can tell from the above statistic, Jacobs is a tough guy to bring down. That will continue and the big games will continue coming. The former Alabama Crimson Tide standout is going to become a superstar, assuming he stays healthy.
Expect to see the Raiders continue to lean heavily on Josh Jacobs moving forward this year. Las Vegas may not be a Super Bowl contender, but they absolutely have a fighting chance to take a big step into the playoffs.
