The Las Vegas Raiders have made two major moves this offseason to upgrade their offense and defense. Offensively, they reunited Derek Carr with his college teammates, star wide receiver, Davante Adams.

Adams was acquired from the Green Bay Packers, who was franchise tagged and traded for a first and second-round pick. The Raiders then signed him to a five-year, $140 million deal. Defensively, the Raiders made a splash by bringing in EDGE Chandler Jones.

Jones will combine with Maxx Crosby to make one of the most fearsome pass-rushing duos in the NFL. Jones is the Arizona Cardinals’ all-time leader in sacks and has registered double-digit sacks in seven out of his 10 seasons in the NFL.

Given the arms race that was occurring in the AFC West, the Raiders had to get aggressive and they did. Is there a chance that they are not done adding big-named players to the roster? According to NFL Rumors on Twitter, via Jordan Schultz, Las Vegas is one of the teams interested in safety Tyrann Mathieu.

The market for Mathieu seems robust as eight other teams in addition to the Raiders were mentioned as still having an interest in the Honey Badger.

Landing Mathieu would be a nice coup for the Raiders. He would help upgrade a secondary that was shaky at times in 2021 and will be facing some explosive offenses throughout the 2022 season because of how strong their division opponents are. But, it would also be a blow to one of those rivals, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Losing players in free agency always hurts. But, it hurts a little more when a player of Mathieu’s caliber leaves and signs with a division rival that you have to face off against twice a season. The Raiders would be getting better at the Chiefs’ expense, which is two wins for Las Vegas.
