Rams: 3 reasons why it isn’t time to worry about Jared Goff

1. The offensive line was in shambles in 2019

Before the 2019 season, the Rams decided it was best to allow Rodger Saffold to depart in free agency and replace John Sullivan at center. Nearly a year later, it’s safe to say that Los Angeles’ plan on the offensive line failed miserably.

After making the mistaking once, the Rams can’t allow too much shakeup in the trenches again. It would be best if Los Angeles can convince Andrew Whitworth to return for another season and give guys like Austin Corbett and Austin Blythe another year to grow.

Over the course of the 2019 season, Goff was under duress more than usual with a makeshift offensive line. As an illustration, Goff was blitzed 221 times (tied for fifth-most in the NFL) and was hit 48 times (11th most in the NFL).

Undoubtedly, Los Angeles needs to spend this offseason bulking up their offensive line and finding ways to keep Goff upright. If the Rams can refine the offensive line—along with Goff evolving his game—Goff could be in for another successful campaign in 2020.
