Fowler Improves the Rams Pass Rush
To keep it short and simple, the Rams improved their already lethal pass-rush. The Rams started the season slow in the sack department, but have really turned it on in the past few weeks.
More specifically, Aaron Donald has gone berserk, racking up 10 sacks in the past five games. Those 10 sacks lead the NFL, after he failed to register a sack in the first three weeks.
Even Melvin Gordon knows this move can prove to be beneficial.

One of the glaring weaknesses (if there any) for the Rams, has been their ability to get pressure off of the edge. Like I mentioned before, it’s been the Ebukam and Longacre show so far this year.
Fowler will garner a starting spot immediately, once he shows up to the Rams facility. If I had to guess, Longacre will be taking a spot on the bench once Fowler is ready.
Through eight weeks, the Rams defense has mustered up 22 sacks (eighth in the NFL). The thing is, Donald has accounted for 10 of those, Ndamukong Suh has three and Cory Littleton has three.
That means all of their other guys have managed to come away with just six sacks combined. This is why the Rams felt the need to make a move before the deadline hit.
In his three-year career (sat out in 2015 due to injury), Fowler has 14 sacks, mostly coming from being a rotational pass-rusher.
It’s hard to think Fowler doesn’t at least give a slight improvement in the pass-rushing aspect of this defense. With guys like Donald and Suh extracting double-teams, Fowler should see plenty of chances to sack the QB.
With the talent the Rams already possess on defense, Fowler gives them a much-needed boost off the edge.
