2. Rams continue to regret Goff contract
The Rams rewarded Goff after a trip to the Super Bowl with an outrageous contract. They thought they had their franchise quarterback and gave him a four-year, $134 million contract extension with $110 million guaranteed. Yes, they restructured which freed up about $7 million for the team, but that original number cannot be forgotten.
After signing his record breaking contract, Goff immediately turned in a poor season. He completed 62.9% of his passes while throwing just 22 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Goff had a quarterback rating of 86.5 and fumbled 10 times. These are not the numbers you want to see from your quarterback after breaking the bank.
Goff was given a free pass after going 0-7 and throwing just five touchdowns during his rookie season. He thrived under McVay for two years with 60 touchdowns, 19 interceptions, and two playoff appearances. After 2019, we are all left wondering what Goff is.
The 2020 season is a big one for both Goff and the Rams. They need to find a way to return to their old ways. For Goff, he needs to prove that he is a signal caller worth the money he was paid.
