Control Time of Possession
When you have the best running back in football, it’s easy to say to just run the ball. That’s what the Rams will need to try to do.
Todd Gurley has gashed through opposing defenses to the tune of 988 yards (1st in NFL), 17 total touchdowns (1st in NFL) and 1,390 scrimmage yards (1st in NFL).
If a quarterback doesn’t win the MVP this season, it will be because of Gurley. I know Sean McVay will want to come out guns blazing, airing it out with Goff, but they should get the run game going first.
In a game against a dominant squad like the Chiefs, sometimes the best defense against them is your offense. The Rams can do this by pounding the ball, leaving the Chiefs offense to sit on the sideline.

The Chiefs defense hasn’t been great, allowing 1,217 yards rushing this year (8th most in NFL). The Rams will need to take advantage of anything they can, with the Chiefs run defense being a glaring weakness.
I mean, the Chiefs pass defense hasn’t been great either, allowing the most passing yards in the NFL (2,890 yards). The Rams offensive line and their running game can set the tone early on.
A game that could be this close can be won in the trenches. I’ll take the Rams offensive line against this Chiefs defensive front any day of the week.
The Rams would be wise to control the clock with their rushing attack if they hope to improve to 10-1 before their bye week in Week 12.
