Rams Get Another Disheartening Update On QB Matthew Stafford

The Super Bowl hangover looked real for Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams at the beginning of the 2022 season. Normally, teams will eventually shake that off and turn things around but that didn’t happen for the Rams and it doesn’t look like it ever will.

Los Angeles is currently riding a five-game losing streak as things have only worsened following their 3-3 start heading into the bye week. The most concerning part is that some of the games haven’t even been competitive and that may be the case more often than not in the last six games of the season.

The Rams have played two out of the last three games without starting quarterback Matthew Stafford as he didn’t play in Week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals or Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs. In both instances, Stafford was in concussion protocol, where he has spent all but a handful of days in the last three weeks.

Preparations have begun for their Week 13 matchup with the Seattle Seahawks and once again Stafford is missing from practice. He remains in concussion protocol and has yet to practice, which puts his availability for this weekend in doubt.

If Stafford is unable to suit up an already anemic Rams offense would find it even tougher to move the ball. But, even if he was able to get on the field, he would be working with a very under-manned group of skill position players.

Allen Robinson has joined Cooper Kupp on the sidelines as he suffered a season-ending foot injury. Kupp is on the IR after suffering a high-ankle sprain and undergoing surgery but with how quickly the season went down the tubes, it would not be surprising if he is held out for the season.

With virtually nothing to play for, a cautious approach is likely going to be used with Stafford as well. There is no benefit to pushing the veteran if he isn’t 100 percent healthy as putting him on the field after suffering two concussions already could be a detriment to his career.
