Linval Joseph, Los Angeles Chargers

While the two-time Pro Bowler enjoyed a productive career in Minnesota and signed at a reasonable number for his value and position, the Vikings still saw fit to move on and bring in Michael Pierce from Baltimore. Part of the reason could easily be attributed to age; Linval Joseph is about to turn 32, and Pierce is just shy of 28.

Positional contingencies could also play a factor, given that Pierce was a natural nose tackle in Baltimore; Joseph generally has been a 3-technique tackle, and may not fit new schemes being brought to Minnesota. All that being said, however, the Chargers are bringing in a savvy veteran on a deal that puts him at the 20th highest-paid player at his position.

Los Angeles gave up 4.29 yards per carry last season, good for 21st in the NFL; with the pressure that Joseph can likely take off Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa in the run game, their stars on the edge should have much more leeway to wreak havoc in the backfield.
