No. 2: Bills quarterbacks versus the Ravens defense
One thing Baltimore teams have always been known for is having an elite defense.
Last season, Baltimore ranked top 10 in points allowed and passing yards allowed. Matching up this Ravens defense versus a below-average quarterback, Baltimore will win most of the time. That was exactly the case in Week 1. The Bills played two quarterbacks Sunday — Nathan Peterman, who is unproven, and Josh Allen, who is an inexperienced rookie.
The Ravens defense was causing havoc all over the football field versus the Bills. They only managed to force two turnovers, both were interceptions. But they also forced a fumble and were pressuring the Bills quarterbacks all game long. Baltimore’s pass rush had six sacks and nine quarterback hits.
The Baltimore offense scored 47 points. Even worse, the Ravens defense forced punts nearly every possession. Buffalo punted the ball eight times. In addition, every possession but one finished with a punt or turnover.
Amid the elements of heavy rain, the Ravens defense was dominant. Defensive tackle Terrell Suggs and that Ravens defense was so good, Buffalo may have a new starting quarterback next week.
