Costly mistakes

After playing flawlessly against Arizona, Washington made a few mistakes during the game which haunted them.

Towards halftime, the Redskins had a chance to cut Indianapolis lead to eight with a Dustin Hopkins field gold, but the veteran place kicker missed a game-altering 49-yard field goal, which kept the Colts’ momentum in place.

Penalties also hurt the Redskins’ chances by a lot. Washington committed seven penalties that totalled up to 90 yards. One of the biggest ones was pass-interference call on second-year cornerback Fabian Moreau, which cost the Redskins 37 yards and a touchdown in that span.

A turnover late in the game hurt the Redskins’ chances. Tight end Jordan Reed fumbled the ball with five minutes to go in the game, costing his team a chance to make a comeback. These mistakes ruined the Redskins chances for a victory at home, and team has to clean things up before their match against Green Bay in Week 3.
