After coming up short in the AFC Championship Game to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Baltimore Ravens are looking to put together an aggressive NFL offseason. They were just a piece or two away from competing in the Super Bowl this season. Lamar Jackson and company need more firepower and there are plenty of ways to add that firepower via free agency, the NFL Draft, or the trade market.

Looking at free agency, there is one position that the Ravens could improve in a big way. That would be the running back position.

Many reports and rumors have connected the Ravens to impending free agent superstar Derrick Henry. However, there is another star target that Baltimore is expected to pursue.

According to a league source, the Ravens are expected to pursue Los Angeles Chargers’ impending free agent Austin Ekeler in the free agency market.

Ekeler is set to hit free agency after a bit of a down season in 2023. He ended up carrying the football 179 times for 628 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers were quite a bit lower than the previous two years.

He is also one of the most feared dual-threat running backs in the NFL. Through the air, Ekeler caught 51 passes for 436 yards and another touchdown this season.

Those numbers would look great in the Ravens’ backfield. He would open up the passing game with his ability to run the football, but would also give Jackson another weapon to work with in the passing game. Ekeler could be exactly what the offense needs to unlock its full potential.

Expect to see the Ravens took a look at quite a few different running backs. Henry very well may be of more interest, but Austin Ekeler is a name to keep a close eye on. The Ravens definitely have interest in him.
