The New York Jets have been stuck in the bottom half of the NFL for quite some time. Big deals have failed to pan out, including the way they made with star running back Le’Veon Bell a couple years back. Now, it appears they could be looking for a new star at the running back position in free agent Aaron Jones.

It has been reported that the Jets are expected to pursue Jones in free agency this offseason. Many believe he will leave the Green Bay Packers and find a new home. What better new home than the Big Apple?

Jones would be a huge addition for the Jets. He would provide them a dual-threat ability in the backfield. Over the last couple of years, Jones has burst into stardom with the Packers.

During the 2020 NFL season with the Packers, Jones ended up carrying the football 201 times for 1,104 yards and nine touchdowns. He also caught 47 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers came in 14 games and would look great for the Jets.

At 26 years old, Aaron Jones still has a ton of football left in him. He has been a star for the Packers, but they have not run him into the ground. If there was a running back that would be worth a long-term deal this offseason, it would be Jones.

New York has a ton of decisions to make this offseason. Do they keep Sam Darnold as quarterback or go after one in the 2021 NFL Draft? Should they sign high-profile free agents or try to build through the draft?

Plenty of other teams will have interest in signing Jones as well this offseason. If the Jets want to bring him in, they will need to be aggressive immediately when free agency opens. Jones simply wants to compete and have a big role.

Expect to hear Aaron Jones mentioned in a ton of rumors this offseason. The Jets are a team to keep an eye on, but they will have competition.
