RUMOR: Bears listed as potential trade destination for Raheem Mostert

Raheem Mostert became a hero for the San Francisco 49ers during their run to the Super Bowl last season. Unfortunately, the franchise was unable to knock off Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the big game. Now, it appears that he is on his way out of town after requesting a trade.

According to CBS Sports, the Chicago Bears are a potential trade destination for Mostert. They have a major need at the running back position and making a deal for a talent like Mostert would make a ton of sense for them.

Montgomery definitely could be the future at running back for the Bears, but adding someone like Mostert would improve this rushing attack as Chicago tries to figure out its quarterback situation.

During the 2019 regular season, Mostert ended up carrying the football 137 times for 772 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 14 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns.

Mostert took his game to a new level against the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Championship Game. He racked up 220 yards and four touchdowns on 29 carries. That kind of production makes teams like the Bears very intrigued by a potential deal to acquire him.

At 28 years old, Mostert is looking for a team that will not only acquire him, but be willing to pay him a new contract as well. Chicago could easily do that. Assuming the price to acquire him isn’t too steep, giving him a two or three-year contract wouldn’t be a huge deal.

Chicago has to address the running game at some point. Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles are not the kind of quarterbacks that are going to power an offense by themselves. A dual-threat backfield of Montgomery and Mostert would be a huge upgrade.

It will be interesting to see what Ryan Pace and the Bears decide to do before the start of the season. They could stand pat, but acquiring Mostert would be a huge move that would help their offense take the next step.

Expect to hear about quite a few teams having interest in Raheem Mostert. He is a talented back and whoever ends up acquiring him will be happy they did so.
