The Kansas City Chiefs have been busy over the last few weeks. Getting Patrick Mahomes and Chris Jones locked up to extensions were priorities, and both have been completed. Now, it appears that Matthew Judon could be the next move for the Chiefs.
Judon took to Twitter to ask current Chiefs’ star safety Tyrann Mathieu about what the “real estate” is like in Kansas City. Fans have taken that as a sign that the pass rusher would like to join up with the Chiefs.
Currently, Judon is a member of the Ravens, as the team franchise tagged him this offseason. However, it’s clear that he isn’t excited about playing on the tag. Judon could look to force a trade out of Baltimore.
Bringing in a talent like Judon would be a massive pickup for the Chiefs. He would bolster their pass rush and would help shore up one of the only weaknesses that Kansas City has. Even if they have to wait until next offseason, the fit will make sense.
Last season with the Baltimore Ravens, Judon ended up recording 54 total tackles to go along with 9.5 sacks and four forced fumbles. Those numbers are exactly what the Chiefs should be looking for.
A guy that can get to the quarterback and force turnovers would be a great fit for Kansas City. With Jones now locked up long-term, Judon could form a lethal pass-rushing duo with him.
Gone are the days of Justin Houston and Dee Ford wreaking havoc on opposing offensive lines. Could Judon and Jones be the next duo for the Chiefs? It would certainly make sense.
Judon is currently 27 years old. He will be looking to get paid next offseason and it won’t be cheap to get him from the Ravens.
Obviously, it’s all speculation at this point, but it’s certainly interesting. If the Ravens don’t get an extension done with Matthew Judon, the Chiefs could come calling next offseason.
