Ryan Kerrigan named a potential trade target for the 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have been dealt a rough hand so far this season with injuries. On the defensive front alone, they lost both Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas in the same week for the rest of the season. They need some help on the defensive line and Washington Football Team star Ryan Kerrigan could be a name to keep an eye on.

With the NFL trade deadline coming up quickly, the 49ers could look to make some moves. Kerrigan would certainly make a lot of sense if the asking price is right.

Bleacher Report thinks the 49ers and Kerrigan would be an ideal fit. Here is some of the explanation for why they believe a trade for Kerrigan would be perfect for the 49ers.

In San Francisco, Kerrigan, 32, could help Arik Armstead provide some semblance of a pass rush. Ziggy Ansah, who signed with San Francisco after the injuries to Bosa, Thomas and Ford, just suffered a season-ending biceps injury

Kerrigan has gotten off to a strong start this season with Washington. He has recorded five total tackles, two sacks, and a fumble recovery in four games. Not bad for the main focus of every offensive line opposing him.

A trade to the 49ers would give Kerrigan a breath of fresh air. He could play for something much more than pride. Even though the 49ers have lost a lot of key players to injuries, they are still a contender in the NFC.

At 32 years old, Kerrigan is in the latter stages of his prime. He wants to compete and a trade to San Francisco would give him that opportunity. If the 49ers were able to bring him on board, they would get an insanely motivated version of Kerrigan.

This is something to keep a close eye on. Washington is not a serious contender at all this season and should absolutely listen to offers. A third-round pick would likely be a fair return for Kerrigan.

Expect to hear quite a few rumors about Ryan Kerrigan in the coming days. He may not end up landing with the 49ers or even being traded at all, but the move would make a ton of sense for San Francisco.
