Saints: 3 Important X-Factors to Beat Eagles

Jermon Bushrod

The Saints have been extremely lucky in the health department this season, especially on offense. The only players to miss multiple games on the offensive side of the ball are Andrus Peat and Ted Ginn Jr. Ginn was placed on injured reserve and could return soon. Peat missed three games earlier in the season but seems to be healthy as of late. Unfortunately, that luck changes on Sunday, as Terron Armstead will miss “3-4 weeks,” according to Ian Rapaport of NFL Network.

That is an extremely significant blow to one of the league’s top offensive lines. The 27-year old left tackle is currently the top-graded offensive tackle according to Pro Football Focus. His 89.3 grading is extremely impressive, and a big reason the Saints’ entire line is ranked 9th by Pro Football Focus. Armstead suffered the injury during the game in Cincinnati, originally thought to be a shoulder injury. Luckily, it wasn’t as significant.

The next man up is 12-year veteran Jermon Bushrod. He will have his hands full protecting Drew Brees from guys like Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Michael Bennet. Through 10 weeks, the Saints line has allowed just 9 sacks, best in the league. The Eagles are tied for 10th-worst with 28 sacks allowed. If Bushrod holds strong, and the Saints are able to continue to hold that line up front, the blowout will unfold quickly this Sunday.
